Times of India reported that the Abhijeet Group has managed to complete the commissioning of the first phase of its steel plant along with a captive power plant at Saraikela in Kharsawan district.

The plant in the first phase will have a steel production capacity of 400,000 tonnes per annum. Generation capacity of the power unit will be 60 MW.

Officials of the company said that it was only after the MoU was signed with the state government in August 2008 that the land acquisition process started. Construction work for the first phase of the plant started in 2009 and it is now ready for production. Trial runs have started and it is soon set to be formally inaugurated.

With further expansion of the plant in its second phase, it will have a total steel production capacity of 2.5 million tonne per annum steel and power generation of 180 MW.
