US based automobile manufacturer General Motors (GM) has signed a deal with the Japanese carmaker Nissan to sell small cargo vehicles in the US and Canada that are manufactured by Nissan.

Under the deal, Nissan will supply cargo vans based on its NV200 vehicle that will be delivered to the customers through GM's Chevrolet dealer network as the Chevrolet City Express starting from the fall of 2014.

GM US Fleet and Commercial Sales vice president Ed Peper said, "Our fleet customers have asked us for an entry in the commercial small van segment, so this addition to the Chevrolet portfolio will strengthen our position with fleets and our commercial customers."

Nissan commercial vehicles and fleet vice president Joe Castelli said, "Working with partners to expand markets for our innovative products enhances Nissan's growth and manufacturing efficiency by leveraging our capacity to meet growing demand in this space."

Currently, Nissan sells the NV200 vehicle across the worldwide markets, including the US and Canada.
