Apparel exports from the Latin American country of Paraguay fetched US$ 5.6 million during the month of January 2014, registering a rise of 78.55 percent, compared to the same month last year, as per the data released by the Tailoring Industry Association of Paraguay (AICP).

According to the AICP data, the country exported 935,787 units of apparel products worth $5.6 million during the month of January, whereas during the same month last year 421,972 units of garments amounting to $3.1 million were exported.

The highest exports were made from the ready-to-wear garment products with exports amounting to $3.6 million, followed by the bath and home apparels with exports totaling $2 million during the month of January this year.

As per the AICP data, majority of the exports were destined to Brazil with apparel exports amounting to $3.5 million, accounting for 63.2 percent of the overall garment exports from the country during the month of January, 2014.

Argentina ranked second with exports worth $1.6 million during the first month of the year, followed by Uruguay with $249,223, Panama with $125,043, the US with $42,308, and Colombia with $30,151.
